Underrated Gators CB Target Shares Pledge Date
Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, Fla.) High cornerback prospect Teddy Foster could become the Florida Gators' first pledge at the position on Friday afternoon.
The newly-scheduled date was initially announced via his Instagram Story on Tuesday evening before he took to Twitter to officially circle July 14, his birthday, on the calendar for his commitment. Foster will choose from the top three he released on July 6: Florida, Miami and North Carolina.
The Gators have long been viewed as the favorite in Foster's recruitment and remain the team at the top as the impending commitment nears. Ascension to that spot came relatively quickly as Florida hosted Foster for an unofficial visit in May.
Foster's performance in a workout led by the staff, including secondary coach Corey Raymond and head coach Billy Napier, on that day thoroughly impressed to catapult the 6-foot-2, 170-pound coverage man up the shortlist of CB targets on the position board.
Possessing the height, length, speed and versatility coveted in the boundary role, Foster — despite his three-star rating — is a prototypical cornerback option to excel under Raymond during his storied run as an assistant coach at the collegiate level. He posted 38 tackles, nine pass breakups and two interceptions as a junior, showcasing his valuable as a multifaceted asset against the run and pass.
His attributes, paired with the workout performance, led to his May 23 offer from the program.
Foster returned to Gainesville for the June 16 official visit weekend, one of two multi-day stays he took during the summer (North Carolina, June 9-11).
Just under a month later, Florida hopes to add the eighth pledge from that weekend when Foster shares his decision on Friday.
