Gators Included in Blue-Chip WR Jeremiah McClellan’s Top 12

In this story:
St. Louis-based wideout Jeremiah McClellan took a step in his recruitment process on Monday evening by trimming his list of contenders to 12.
The release of his top schools list marks the elimination of over 30 vying for his services. In the extensive cut, he included the Florida Gators alongside Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Receiving an offer “out of nowhere” from the Gators in mid-March, McClellan spoke positively about his initial impression of the program.
“I was pretty amazed,” McClellan told All Gators immediately following the offer. “It was out of nowhere. So, it was a really crazy experience. Florida’s been a really good school over the past couple years.”
At that time, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and Tennessee stood out as teams recruiting him the hardest, adding in Florida when they extended their hand to him on March 16.
He included a few others programs on that short list to compile his top 12 on Monday afternoon.
While the Gators aren’t usually the ones to offer prospect outside a six-hour radius at this stage — made known by Billy Napier and Co. in their recruiting efforts thus far — McClellan was one of the few exceptions in the process.
Wideouts assistant David Doeker made that known to him.
He aligns as the type of pass catcher the Gators have attempted to bring in over the past few years, regardless of regime. Standing at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, he uses every inch of his body while possessing speed and promising route running traits on the boundary for the next level.
“People say I’m a big body, they compare me to [current Philadelphia Eagles wideout] AJ Brown a lot,” he told AG about his game. “I go up and catch the ball a lot, I make plays happen in open space. I have good route running. I track the ball really, really well. Go up and catch everything that's in the air. So, that's pretty much it.”
McClellan will move forward with Florida and the 11 other suitors on his mind for his collegiate destination.
Acquiring the nation’s No. 177 overall prospect would be a massive victory for the Gators as they look to add dynamic weapons for quarterback pledge DJ Lagway.
Tampa Catholic’s TJ Moore, who also released his top schools list on Monday, is another potential suitor to fill that void.
