New In-State Gators WR Target Robinson Has Florida in Top Group

St. Thomas Aquinas recruit looking to make a summer decision

Florida is one of Chance Robinson's newest scholarship offers, coming down the pike back in January, but the timing hasn't hurt the program's chances for the in-state recruit.

On Friday evening, the Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas standout updated his list of top programs and UF made the top eight along with Miami, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss and Penn State.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Robinson, who helped STA to another state title as a junior with 29 catches for 540 yards and 13 touchdowns, also admits Florida's angle is still under consideration despite the turnover at the wide receiver coach position.

Keary Colbert of course took a job with the Denver Broncos, a move that could have slowed the program's prominence with one of the state's best at the position. Instead, multiple assistants have picked up the slack.

“[Quality control – running backs] Coach [Benedick] Hyppolite and coach [David] Doeker, the assistant receivers coach that’s there,” Robinson told All Gators last weekend said when asked about his contacts at the school. “They also have Andy Jean up there right now and he looks like he’s doing good. They have a couple guys from down in south Florida and they’re always keeping in touch.

"Coach K.C. recently left but that doesn’t really change my mind about them."

Robinson also noted the potential to team up with a blue-chip quarterback like future Gator D.J. Lagway as another strong angle to continue to hold UF in high regard. And of course there are multiple St. Thomas Aquinas products already on the roster, too.

"They’re always talking to me; I talk to [Tyreak] Sapp and he’s just telling me to come there," he said. "I like Florida, it’s a backyard school."

The four-star recruit says he is planning on taking considerable visits in the spring and summer months before announcing a verbal commitment ahead of the 2023 season.
