The postseason is here, meaning FSU has a clean slate and can start over again. How long will they last?

We’ll find out today as the ‘Noles have the first game of the event, playing a red-hot Georgia Tech team at 2 PM on the ACC Network at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC.

Quick Game and Tournament Prediction

Georgia Tech has won 6 of its last 8, including wins over Syracuse and Virginia Tech. The other wins came over bottom feeders in the conference in Boston College, Notre Dame, and Louisville (and a random game against Florida Tech), but there’s something to be said for a team entering the tournament on a roll.

Miles Kelly has been extremely impressive over their last six games, averaging 20.2 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 2.2 APG with shooting splits of 49.4/45.9/91.7 and taking 10+ 3s per game. FSU is likely going to have a lot of attention on him to start this game.

Meanwhile, Florida State has won just two games since the start of February and seemingly can’t do anything right. FSU won the first matchup between these teams 75- 64 in Tallahassee, but that was the first week of January; a lot has changed since then.

If FSU can get past Georgia Tech, they’d get a third matchup with Pittsburgh, who they’ve beaten on the road and gave a good fight at home. It’s not the worst option of those upper seeds. After that would be Duke, FSU likely wouldn’t stand much of a chance there.

Georgia Tech is favored in this first matchup by 2.5 points with an over/under of 144.

I actually like FSU in this first game. Maybe it’s just me hoping they can exorcise some demons from the last time these two played in Greensboro, and for going one and done last year in the ACC Tournament, but I’m taking the ‘Noles in this game before losing to Pitt tomorrow.

As far as the whole tournament, I have absolutely no idea who’s going to take the crown. It’s been a wild and contested year in the ACC, and there are genuinely 6 or 7 teams that could easily win this. I’m leaning toward either Duke or NC State for now.
