One former teammate, Alaa-Eddine Boutayeb, who has since transferred to Arkansas State and is in the portal again, wished him well.

Another former player, David Nichols, who played at FSU for the 2018-19 season, was a little shocked but said the rivalry isn’t as big for basketball as it is for football.
Yeah that’s crazy but at the same time I feel like the rivalry in basketball with Miami is not the same.

When we played Florida it was a real competitive hatred but not so much with Miami. https://t.co/da0tZ69EZH
He’s not entirely wrong there, honestly. Granted, Florida State has dominated the basketball series recently, winning 12 of the last 14 games against Miami. The competitiveness turns up when they’re playing Florida, Duke, and to some extent Louisville. Not as much for Miami. There’s definitely going to be some extra motivation for the players now.
Even a former football player chimed in, linebacker/safety Brendan Gant, who recently transferred to Colorado.

The schedule release in the fall is going to be as anticipated as many in recent history, as Florida State will likely have both games against Miami circles, but especially the game in Tallahassee.
