The spring transfer portal window is open, and exit interviews are in full swing for the Florida State Seminoles Football team. Recently, LB Brendan Gant, who played in 12 games last season, announced his intentions to enter the portal along with defensive tackle Antavious Woody who worked on the scout team and redshirted last season.

Following those two departures is redshirt junior linebacker Stephen Dix Jr., who signed on in 2020. Dix didn't record a single stat in 2022 due to injury and had his best season with 45 tackles during his true freshman year.

With players like redshirt freshman linebacker Omar Graham Jr. emerging and veterans like Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, and DJ Lundy solidifying their roles in the middle of the defense, Dix could be looking for greener pastures. Graham is in early favorite to slide into the rotation alongside the aforementioned veterans from last season.

In 2021 he recorded 15 tackles (five solo) and found himself being surpassed on the depth chart as the Seminoles rebuilt their roster under head coach Mike Norvell, who has had tremendous success in the transfer portal as of late. Dix committed to former head coach Willie Taggart but stayed with his class following the coaching change.

With the departure of Gant and Dix Jr, the Seminoles have DeLoach, Bethune, Lundy, Graham Jr, and a trio of true freshmen (DeMarco Ward, Blake Nichelson, Dylan Brown-Turner) remaining in the linebacker room.

The whirlwind of the transfer portal era will continue until the spring cycle is over on April 30, so expect more roster mixups to follow.
