Florida State is in the process of making major changes in Tallahassee with ongoing upgrades to Doak Campbell Stadium and the addition of a Football-Only Facility. The university broke ground on the FOF in December of 2022 and there's been some preliminary work done to prepare the area for construction.

The project is now ramping up with construction beginning on the stadium and new facility. The parking lot outside of the Moore Athletic Center was recently closed to make room for an influx of heavy equipment and machinery. New images on social media from Athletics Director Michael Alford and Senior Associate Athletics Director Ben Zierden show an array of ongoing activity on the practice field.

That is also evident in Doak Campbell Stadium as the bleachers on the home side have been removed rapidly over the last couple of weeks.

The upgrades will bring Florida State up to date in the current age of college football. The 150,000-square-foot Football-Only Facility will provide amenities such as a locker room, weight room, walk-through room, hydrotherapy room, offices for the staff, and much more.

The facility will end up benefitting Seminole Athletics as a whole. The vacated space in the Moore Athletic Center will be repurposed for the usage of other teams.

It's expected to cost $100 million which was previously approved by the Board of Trustees.

“Great things are happening on our campus and within our athletic programs,” Alford said at the groundbreaking ceremony. “This new facility will be a fitting and well-deserved home for our legendary football program that will provide our student-athletes with the proper environment in which to train while addressing deficiencies that arise naturally as facilities age and needs grow.”

The renovation of Doak Campbell Stadium is expected to enhance game-day experiences for fans and improve seat comfort. The upgrades will force the university to introduce temporary seating on the west sideline with the capacity being reduced for the 2024 season.

Both projects are expected to be completed before the 2025 season.
