The past month has been less than ideal for the Florida State Seminoles after having won the ACC Championship for the first time since 2014, just to be left out of the college football playoffs. Instead, the Seminoles played in the Orange Bowl and lost to the Georgia Bulldogs in a dominating fashion after nearly all starters and draft-eligible players opted out of the game.

Nearly two weeks following the disaster in Miami, Florida State fans were again put in an uncomfortable situation as it was being reported that Mike Norvell was a betting favorite to succeed Nick Saban as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Days after this news broke, Norvell reassured Seminole fans of his commitment to the university with a message on social media.

During the 2023 season, Norvell led the Seminoles to a perfect regular season, a conference championship win, and their first New Year's Six Bowl appearance since 2016, and was the recipient of the ACC Coach of the Year Award, Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award and the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award.

Following his recent success, Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported that Norvell signed an eight-year contract extension that would increase his annual pay to $10 million.

Fans and FSU Staff quickly took to social media following the news that Norvell will be staying in Tallahassee for the foreseeable future.
