Florida State held its first scrimmage of spring practice on Saturday morning inside Doak Campbell Stadium. There were a couple of players who were limited or sat out of the session, but it was still a competitive sequence filled with big plays on both sides of the ball.

Here is where things stand for the Seminoles, with spring practice set to resume on Tuesday afternoon.

Vandrevious Jacobs put together an impressive day, bringing down a long touchdown from AJ Duffy in the corner of the endzone. Jacobs also had another snag on a great thrown ball from Rodemaker that went for a big play. As we've seen in practices so far, he's been flashing, but for it to show in a game-like scenario is big.

Rodney Hill had two touchdowns and ran for over 100+ yards on Saturday morning. Mike Norvell talked highly about Hill afterward, stating he was specifically watching his young running back today to see how confident he was, and it looks like it showed. Big day for him.

With Jordan Travis sitting out of the scrimmage, Tate Rodemaker, AJ Duffy, and Brock Glenn earned extensive action. Duffy had a solid day and was probably the most consistent out of the trio. He made a couple of plays out of the pocket and on the run. Duffy also tossed a throw on the money to Winston Wright Jr. for a touchdown. He was picked off while targeting Johnny Wilson.

Brock Glenn's best throw well-placed toss to Jaheim Bell, who displayed his physicality by coming down with the ball with a defender draped over him. Glenn connected with fellow true freshman Hykeem Williams on a throw over his shoulder.

CJ Campbell broke one open for a long touchdown and finished just shy of the century mark during the scrimmage. Two scores for him on the day, but he also dropped a pass that would've gone for a big play. FSU will have to figure out how they can utilize him in 2023. There's too much potential which says a lot considering the talent in the backfield.

Fabien Lovett had a strong performance despite receiving somewhat limited reps. At one point, he slammed Campbell to the turf and fired up Mike Norvell. There's no point in overstressing a veteran who has proven what he can provide over the last couple of years. Lovett received some praise for Norvell during his post-scrimmage press conference.

Byron Turner Jr. and Lamont Green Jr. both recorded a sack. The defensive line won the battle against the offensive line during the scrimmage, totaling at least eight sacks throughout the session. The disparity was evident as both sides went further into their rotations.

Jarrian Jones and walk-on defensive back Christian White each recorded an interception.

Kyle Morlock had a couple of nice plays throughout the scrimmage. He's getting the hang of the offense early on and is always in a position to make a play which has allowed him to get more opportunities. Markeston Douglas also made a few catches, while Jerrale Powers had a big play.

Caziah Holmes had a few flashes during the morning. He's starting to settle into the offense, which is good to see. Holmes had at least one run go over 20 yards.

Every field goal was made by all kickers except for one that was blocked by Renardo Green early in the scrimmage.

Some penalties on both sides will need to be cleaned up moving forward, which is pretty typical for a first scrimmage like this. A toss-up of a pass interference penalty negated an interception for the defense, while the offense had at least one big play called back due to holding.
