The Florida State Seminoles just capped off their fifth camp practice and are now heading into the first scrimmage of the spring this Saturday. As the days go by, there is excitement surrounding where the 'Noles are at early on. Although the scrimmage is closed to the media, we will get a chance to hear from head coach Mike Norvell and coordinators afterward.

After practice, Norvell met with the media to discuss where the team was, a few players standing out, and what he expects to see in their first scrimmage.

"I thought it was a good work day. You know, I talked Tuesday about really wanting to push the tempo. I thought for the most part of practice you saw a sense of urgency for that with how guys were operating between plays, really trying to push some good competitive drills." Norvell said, "Mixing in some situations as you get into it being our fifth practice, you're trying to force guys to think more and to be able to apply the situations rather than just getting out there and just running plays."

Saturday marks the Seminoles' first scrimmage this spring, and Norvell said it would have a lot of situational work as they move into their second scrimmage, which will be more of a game-like scenario.

"We'll go more situations Saturday, and the second one will be a little bit more letting it flow, but we'll get quality work with it, but I want to see, I want to make sure that we get some of the situations coming out of Saturday."

Earlier in the spring Norvell said that quarterback Jordan Travis won't be participating as much because he wants to see how the guys behind him look. Today he said that he likes what he see's from the competition for that backup role.

"They're doing a good job, and there's been some back and forth between practices. I think they've -- all of those guys have elevated their game. I think they've all played well when you're looking at a competitive consistency of production. They've had some days where one guy is performing better than the other, and it has kinda flipped the next day so Saturday will be big for them." adding that "Brock (Glenn) is really coming along. His last practice was probably his best practice, and today, he got some different situations. I'm excited about what he's been able to do in a short period. His opportunities are going to continue to increase as he's growing in his understanding."

Norvell goes over the linebacker room progression, the defensive line growth, how players respond, and more in his full interview below.

Kalen DeLoach, Omarion Cooper and Casey Roddick also met with the media after practice.
