The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is the premier men’s basketball league in Canada. The company was founded in 2017 with the first tipoff coming in 2019.

Starting with six teams in the inaugural season, the league now has ten teams spread out from six different provinces. Though the Toronto Raptors are in Canada, the CEBL is the largest league compiled of teams strictly from Canada.

Of those teams are the Vancouver Bandits, who are based in Langley, British Columbia. The team was a part of the inaugural six teams, though they have since changed their branding from the Fraser Valley Bandits after being sold.

On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of former Florida State basketball player, M.J. Walker. The former Seminole was a five-star recruit before committing to Florida State.

Walker played four seasons with the Seminoles, averaging double-digit points per game in his final two seasons with the team. He became a full-time starter in his sophomore season. In his final season in the garnet and gold, Walker made Second Team All-ACC.

Following his collegiate career, Walker entered the 2021 NBA Draft, before going undrafted. After that, he signed with the New York Knicks G-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. His play with the Knicks landed him a two-game stint with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA, but he eventually landed back with the Knicks G League affiliate.

On Tuesday, the same day as his signing with the Bandits, Walker made his debut with the team. In the Bandits' near-comeback and Walker’s debut game, he finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and six assists.
