The Florida State Seminoles held their annual Elite Camp on Saturday, hosting top-tier recruits stretching three classes from across the country. Accompanying players participating in the camp, were a few prospects who took unofficial visits on campus. Cornerback Chris Ewald watched from the sidelines as the potential prospects competed inside Doak Campbell Stadium.

Ewald, a four-star cornerback out of Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Miami, Florida is ranked No. 11 at his position and No. 79 overall in the 2025 recruiting class per 247Sports. He finished last season with 24 tackles, 17 solo and four interceptions according to MaxPreps.com, taking home the Class 1M state title.

"It went really well today. I got a feel for coach Norvell and coach Fuller, how they brought they energy. Had the same energy all throughout the day," Ewald said to NoleGameday's Tommy Mire. "I talked to the players, and they was like, 'they treat you how they recruit you,' so even when you do get here, nothing changes, same energy, and I like that."

Saturday would mark the third time Ewald has visited FSU since June of 2022 and, during his visit, he got a chance to spend time with new defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. who was hired earlier this year.

"I got a feel for him today because the first time we met, we didn't have that much time, but this time we started building our relationship," Ewald said about Surtain. "You know, we from the same area so, we was talkin', [about] a couple things going on at home, and then we started talking football, and yeah, we was just getting to know each other more."

He plans on taking a trip back to Tallahassee this upcoming season and a theme that has resonated with all the recruits that attended was that the energy and relationships made FSU stand out against the competition.

"The coach-to-player relationships. Their relationship together is like a real family, and I like that. That's what I'm big on," Ewald said. "Like family, tradition, and how you treat your players outside of football, so I enjoyed that."

Ewald is currently committed to Michigan and holds offers from 22 other programs. Schools like Alabama, Tennessee, USC, LSU, along with Florida State are all after the talented defensive back. He has planned visits scheduled with USC and Michigan, which are expected to take place in the upcoming weeks to close out the month of June.
