Two Local Products Set Commitment Dates With Florida State In The Mix

Florida State is working on filling out its 2024 class this summer and the coaching staff has an eye on two prospects that live just down the road. The Seminoles offered four-star running back Micahi Danzy and three-star safety Ashton Hampton over a year ago.

The pair of Tallahassee products star locally at Florida State University School, finishing as the 2S State Championship runner-up this past season. On Tuesday, Danzy and Hampton both announced on social media that they plan to make their college decisions on July 15.
Florida State is in the running for each of the talented athletes. However, the program probably has a better shot of landing Danzy at this time. He made the short trek over to campus for his official visit at the conclusion of June - his only trip to a school during a crucial month of recruiting.
The Seminoles already have four-star running back Kam Davis committed in the 2024 class and Danzy would be the perfect complement. He'll have the opportunity to run track at the next level while also staying close to home if he chooses Florida State.
Following his official visit last month, Danzy noted that he has a different feeling about FSU compared to the other programs recruiting him. He's scheduled official visits to Miami and Florida in December.
"FSU. It's just I've been here so much and I've learned a lot," Danzy said to NoleGameday previously. "I feel like this will be the right place. When I come here I feel different compared to other schools."
Hampton hasn't visited Florida State since viewing the Garnet & Gold Spring Showcase in April. Since then, he's taken official visits to Clemson, Florida, Arkansas, and Louisville. The Tigers are one team that appears to have built momentum in his recruitment.
The Seminoles still have a need at safety despite the pledges of three-star CJ Heard and three-star Rydarrius Morgan. Hampton is on the board but the coaching staff may want to take a crack at a bigger fish such as five-star KJ Bolden or four-star Zavier Mincey.
At this time, it feels like Hampton is bound to wind up elsewhere. However, it would be hard to call the recruitment over as he's scheduled to officially visit Florida State on December 8. The Seminoles would still have an opportunity to make a potential flip if he doesn't choose them in July.
Hampton is regarded as the No. 661 overall prospect, the No. 68 S, and the No. 96 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
Danzy is regarded as the No. 152 overall prospect, the No. 9 ATH, and the No. 23 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
