How To Watch Georgia Basketball vs. Wake Forest
Monday's season opener didn't go as planned for Georgia as it lost to Oregon 82-71 in Las Vegas. The Bulldogs can turn their fortune around and make a statement Friday in their home opener against Wake Forest.
Georgia came up short against the Demon Deacons last year, losing 81-71 in Winston-Salem. That close margin was considered somewhat of a success for Mike White's first Georgia basketball squad. After all, Georgia went 6-26 the year before with former coach Tom Crean, while the Deamon Deacons were coming off a 25-10 campaign and a trip to the quarterfinals of the NIT.
However, White's program is expected to show some growth this season and a win over Wake Forest can display that. The Bulldogs struggled mightily on Monday. They didn't live up to their billing from the field, shooting just 33.8 percent. They were also overwhelmed on the boards, losing the rebound battle 73-45. Fortunately, Wake Forest doesn't have a dominant big man like Oregon does with N'Faly Dante.

Before last season's meeting, Georgia had four of the previous five meetings. Dennis Felton led the Bulldogs to wins over Wake Forest in 2006 and 2007. Georgia also beat Wake in 1999 and 1912.
Wake Forest enters Athens with a 1-0 record after thumping Elon 101-78 on Monday. The Demon Deacons ended the 2022-23 season with a 19-14 record and an eighth-place finish in the ACC.
