Report: Dates Have Been Set for Georgia's 2024 Games Against Alabama and Texas

Reports indicate that dates have been set for Georgia's 2024 regular season games against Alabama and Texas.

While Georgia and Alabama are set to square off this weekend in another high profile matchup in the SEC Championship Game, no matter the outcome, reports suggest that the two SEC powerhouses will not have to wait long to take the field against each other once again.

According to a report by ESPN Senior Writer Chris Low, Georgia and Alabama are scheduled to play on Sept. 28 in Tuscaloosa in what will be a premier matchup in the new look SEC. The two programs have combined to win five of the last eight national championships.

While two two SEC titans have developed quite the postseason history in recent years, their reported September meeting will be only the fifth time that Georgia and Alabama have faced each other in the regular season since 2003. Georgia's last regular season victory against Alabama came in 2007 when the Bulldogs defeated the Crimson Tide 26-23 in Tuscaloosa when quarterback Matthew Stafford found WR Mikey Henderson in the end zone for a game-winning touchdown in overtime.

Low also reported that Georgia will play Texas in Austin on Oct. 19 in what will be another highly-anticipated matchup in the first year of the expanded SEC. Georgia and Texas have only played five times previously, with the Longhorns defeating the Bulldogs 28-21 in the most recent meeting between the two programs in the 2019 Sugar Bowl. Georgia last played Texas in Austin in 1958, a game in which the Longhorns won 13-8. That 1958 game was the last time that the two programs have met in the regular season. Georgia's lone victory over Texas came in the 1984 Cotton Bowl when the Bulldogs defeated the Longhorns 10-9.

The rest of the Georgia's 2024 SEC schedule, along with those of the 15 other teams in the conference, will reportedly be released at some point in December.
