Andrew Thomas Signs Massive Extension With New York Giants

Former Georgia offensive lineman Andrew Thomas has inked a huge deal with the NFL team that drafted him

Aside from quarterback, the offensive tackle position is arguably the most important position in all of football. Having a player who can protect the quarterback from the league's elite pass rushers and set the edge on a run block is a crucial piece to any successful offense at any level of the game.

The massive value of having an elite offensive tackle on your roster has led to former Bulldog Andrew Thomas earning an extremely lucrative extension with his team, The New York Giants. According to NFL, the deal is estimated to be worth $117.5 million and will span over the next five seasons.

Thomas, who was selected by PFF as 2022’s most valuable NFL tackle, played for the Bulldogs from 2017-19. He had a major role during the Bulldogs' 2017 SEC Championship season, eventually leading to a national championship appearance. He would be a starter for the Bulldogs' offensive line the following two seasons. 

Thomas was selected as the 4th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. So far, he is the highest-drafted Georgia offensive lineman of the Kirby Smart era.
