We know basketball season is getting closer when you start to hear about preseason teams and award watchlists. Not very often do you hear about any Georgia Bulldogs on either of those, but this time, there is.

As the SEC Media days have kicked off, Anthony Edwards was named to the "Preseason First-Team All-SEC" list on Tuesday. He's the first Bulldog to make the list since Yante Maten in 2017.

Also on Tuesday, Edwards was named to the watch list for the "Jerry West Award". This award goes to the top men's collegiate shooting guard each year.

It is worth noting that while Edwards came out of high school as a shooting guard, there's a good chance that he brings the ball up the court a good bit.

Things got even better today for Edwards when he was named to the CBS Sports' "Preseason All-American Third-Team" list.

This is one of the few times that this Georgia basketball program has had a player given national honors. With the way that Tom Crean is running this program, it certainly won't be the last.

Edwards has already been named to two preseason teams and a watchlist to win the "Jerry West Award". He's bound to pick up a couple more honors moving forward.

The amount of preseason hype Edwards is receiving isn't much of a surprise, considering how talented he is.

The 6'5 guard is a projected Top-3 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. If he goes above 3rd overall, he'll be the highest-drafted Bulldog in program history.
