Branson Robinson Out for 2023 Season

According to head coach Kirby Smart, Georgia running back Branson Robinson will be out the remainder of the season.

The Georgia running back room took yet another hit on Wednesday as head coach Kirby Smart broke the news that Branson Robinson suffered a ruptured patella tendon during practice on Tuesday evening and will be out the remainder of the season. It's the first season-ending injury to the running back room, but it's not the first injury. Starting running back Kendall Milton has suffered hamstring tightness throughout camp.

Robinson shined during his true freshman season. He piled up 330 rushing yards on 68 attempts along with three touchdowns. His biggest game of the season came against the Auburn Tigers in which he rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. In that game, Robinson became the first true freshman running back in program history to rush for over 95 yards in his first 10-plus carry performance since Sony Michel in 2014. 

Georgia Football Injury Report 8/23

  • Earnest Greene suffered an ankle injury during the second scrimmage, Smart said he's back to 50% during practice.
  • Raylen Wilson Hyperextended his knee and hasn't returned to practice to this point.

Georgia Football Injury Report 8/19

  • Lawson Luckie (Ankle) - Luckie suffered a high-ankle sprain during the first fall scrimmage according to sources.
  • Kendall Milton (Hamstring) -
  • Branson Robinson (Foot) - Still in a non-contact jersey
  • Kamari Lassiter (Foot) - Lassiter returned to practice during observations on Tuesday but was in a non-contact jersey as a full participant during individual periods.
  • Joenel Aguero (Hamstring) - Smart said Aguero has a grade 1 hamstring strain.
  • Earnest Greene (ankle) - Rolled an ankle during the scrimmage, and returned but did not finish practice according to Smart.
  • Smael Mondon (Foot) - Has not participated in full contact periods this fall camp. "Smael is back running but hasn't been a full participant."

Practice Notes From 8/15

  • QB Rotation - Media got to observe what appeared to be a "move the ball period" with good on good. Carson Beck took the first reps, with Vandagriff and Stockton following respectively.
  • Daijun Edwards was the first back with the No. 1 offensive unit, with Cash Jones behind him.
  • Earnest Greene was the first team left tackle with Austin Blaske taking the second team reps.

Injury notes

  • Kendall Milton wasn't at practice during media periods. Branson Robinson was in a non-contact jersey, Andrew Paul was back and participated.
  • Kamari Lassiter was in a non-contact jersey but participated in individual periods.
  • Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins returned to practice on Tuesday.
  • Smael Mondon was not available.

Georgia Injury Report 8/12

  • Smael Mondon, LB - Cleared to run but will be limited with regards to football activity, Kirby Smart mentioned he was ahead of schedule
  • Rara Thomas, WR - Rara had a hamstring tweak, he's been held out of portions, but he's practicing.
  • Kamari Lassiter, DB (foot) - Much closer to getting back to health.
  • Chris Peal, DB (Toe) - He's had a boot on, he's practicing.
  • Kendall Milton, RB - (Hamstring) limited in practice per sources.
  • Branson Robinson, RB - Cleared to run but will be limited with regards to football activity, Kirby Smart mentioned he was ahead of schedule. He's in individual period, but he's not practicing full yet, nor scrimmaging.
  • Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, DL - (FOOT) Will be limited with snap count but will be involved in football activity.
  • Mykel Williams, DL - FOOT Will be limited with snap count but will be involved in football activity.

Practice Notes from 8/8

  • QB Rotation - The rotation was the same today. Carson Beck took the first reps, followed by Vandagriff, and Stockton
  • Smael Mondon was in tennis shows running with the training staff, as was Kendall Milton (Hamstring), RaRa Thomas (Returned to Indys afterward), and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (foot)
  • RB Rotation with Kendall out was Daijun Edwards, Cash Jones, Andrew Paul, and then Branson Robinson. Robinson has returned from the foot it appears.
  • The offensive line rotation was the same. Earnest Greene getting the first team reps at left tackle with Austin Blaske behind him. According to sources, both have received reps with the ones.
  • Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint (X), Ladd McConkey (Z), and Dominic Lovett (SLOT) remain the first unit, with Dillon Bell being the first up to give someone a breather.
  • Pearce Spurlin has earned the nickname "Seaside." From coach Smart. He finished out his high school career at North Walton, Florida down on the beach.
