Georgia vs Florida: DGDs, Breakout Performers from Win over Gators

Georgia's 24-17 victory over Florida Saturday makes it three in a row over the Gators. Despite controlling most of this football game, the Dawgs were tasked with surviving a late push, as Florida scored twice in the fourth. Georgia now leads the series 53-43-2.
It would not have happened without these breakout performers, here's a look at this week's Damn Good Dawgs:
Jordan Jackson: Offensive Line
My Damn Good Dawgs for this week are Andrew Thomas, Solomon Kindley, Trey Hill, Cade Mays, Isaiah Wilson, and Ben Cleveland. The Georgia Bulldogs offense line lived up to their billing as one of the nation's best Saturday, with a dominant performance against the Florida Gators. They paved the way for five UGA ball carriers to combine for 119 yards on the ground and helped Georgia to possess the football for eleven more minutes than their SEC East rival.
However, the most impressive aspect of the Dawgs offensive line play was the fact that they did not allow a sack. They nullified the Florida pass rush, which is number one in the SEC with 29 sacks. The UGA offensive line keeping Jake Fromm clean helped pave the way for the Dawgs to convert 12 of 18 crucial third-down attempts. This also includes converting on both third and short runs attempted. Which was an area that has previously been a problem for Georgia. The work done by the offensive line, allowed the Georgia Bulldogs to have a turnover-free day, which was paramount in securing the victory. What a phenomenal performance for the big Dawgs up front!
Brent Wilson: WR Lawrence Cager
After missing time in the second half against South Carolina and all of the Kentucky game, missing a considerable amount of conditioning and playing time, yet Cager went off for 7 receptions, 132 yards, and a touchdown against Florida’s strong secondary. His ability to get open and make plays on the ball is priceless. The graduate transfer from Miami showed all of college football what he can do against Florida, and he’ll need to continue to perform like this for Georgia to get a playoff spot. Cager emerged as one of the best receivers in the SEC this week, and that’s why he’s my Damn Good Dawg.

Matt Klug: QB Jake Fromm
The easy pick for DGD this week is Lawrence Cager, but I’m taking the guy that threw him those passes: Jake Fromm. Just like Kirby said after the game, some Georgia fans didn’t think Fromm could throw the ball. After throwing for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns, the Warner Robins native proved a lot of doubters wrong. To put on the icing on the cake, Georgia was previously 0-5 when Fromm threw 30 or more passes... until Saturday. On his 30th pass, Fromm completed a game-clinching first down to Eli Wolf, it was the nail in the Gators’ coffin.
Brooks Austin: NT Jordan Davis
The Georgia Bulldogs had not exactly shown signs of missing Jordan Davis during his two-game stint on the injury report following an ankle sprain against Tennessee, but they showed clear and obvious signs of life in his return on Saturday. Georgia's defense held Florida to just 21 yards on the ground, a direct result of the dominant force Davis is in the middle of that defense when healthy. The scariest thing is, Kirby Smart believes Davis has room to grow. Saying he's really going to become a problem if they can get him just a little smaller. Davis had 2.0 tackles and added a half-sack.
SACK!!!!

Hunter Gosseck: Kirby Smart
Just moments after Georgia sealed their 3rd consecutive win over Florida, Kirby Smart meandered through the sea of players and media members to find his QB. In a touching moment, he embraced Jake Fromm, on whom many in the media and the fanbase had given up on. Not Kirby. Kirby never stopped believing. In Fromm. In his team. Or himself. Smart rolled into Jacksonville with a masterful gameplan and his players executed to near perfection. UGA dominated the Gators in every category, most notably, time of possession. Kirby knew what was on the line. Not just for himself but for his players and for his university. Make no mistake about it folks, Kirby is a Bulldog through and through. He loves UGA. He bleeds red and black and he believes UGA's standard should be elite. Kirby believes in his team. No matter what the fans or the media are saying. He holds them up and leads them, win or lose. And that makes Coach Kirby Smart my DGD for the week.
