College Football Rankings Predictions for Third Show

In this story:
Multiple teams had impressive performances following the second week of the College Football Rankings being out. The College Football Playoff rankings selection committee will be back tonight to introduce their third College Football Playoff rankings for the 2023 season. Before we turn our televisions over to ESPN at 9 p.m. tonight to watch the show, Dawgs Daily is here with our predictions for the third week's rankings.
The College Football Playoff matches the No. 1 ranked team vs. No. 4, and No. 2 vs. No. 3 in semifinal games that rotate annually among six bowl games – the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Capital One Orange Bowl, Allstate Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential. This season's Playoff Semifinals will take place Monday, January 1, 2024, at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential and Allstate Sugar Bowl. The College Football Playoff National Championship will be on Monday, January 8, 2024, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
1. Georgia - The Dawgs have faced two straight top-15 opponents in the first two CFP rankings and scathed past Missouri at first, but this past weekend, they were absolutely dominant against Ole Miss. They defeated the former No. 9 team in the country 52-17, allowing no sacks to the No. 2 sacking team in the SEC and no tackles for loss against the No. 3 team for that specific category in the SEC. After this dominant performance, Georgia proved everything needed to earn this week's top spot.
2. Ohio State - The committee's top team for the past two weeks has been based solely upon their resume. With Georgia's resume comparable to Ohio State's now, the Buckeyes will slide just one spot in this week's rankings, with their resume still holding them above Michigan and Florida State, until rivalry week next week when Ohio State travels to Ann Arbor to face the Wolverines.
3. Michigan - The Wolverines have finally played a ranked opponent in the former No. 10 team in the country, Penn State. Michigan ran all over the Nittany Lions, running the ball 46 times. Though they won this important game without Jim Harbaugh, Michigan only used J.J. McCarthy eight times, as he finished the game completing seven passes on eight attempts. That said, Michigan still won, so they remain the No. 3 team.
4. Florida State - The Seminoles are easily the most controversial 4-seed in these rankings. With multiple question marks beside two of their wins heading into their rivalry with Miami, if it weren't for a late interception by Tyler Van Dyke, the Seminoles would add another question mark win to their resume. However, they are still undefeated, have shown grit through adversity this season, and will remain the No. 4 team.
