Georgia Football: Fan Day 2019 Provides Excellent Opportunity for Fans and Players

Georgia Football hosted its annual "Fan Day" event this past Saturday. Today, I'll recap my experience and talk about some of the observations.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Georgia Football Fan Day event year in and year out. I mean, what is there not to like? Every single Georgia fan would love to interact with the players, and get to check out a world-class facility like the "House of Payne."

After waiting in line for some time, the gates opened around 10:00 AM. From there, fans were invited onto the outdoor practice field and into the indoor facility. On the way in, fans had the opportunity to snag up to two posters for players to sign.

Outside, a line emerged for fans to meet Kirby Smart and get an autograph. Inside, players set up at tables categorized by position groups.

With there only being an hour to use, I headed to the running back line, first. I was able to shake hands with Kenny McIntosh, Zamir White, and D'Andre Swift. All looked the part, but I also noticed that James Cook looked as if he has added more muscle. After that, Brian Herrien and Prather Hudson asked about my Masters hat.

Herrien told me, "I wouldn't be able to go to the Masters because I would be too loud."

Hudson also told me he is looking for Masters tickets, so all sellers should get in contact with him.

I also checked in on the defensive backs. The most excited out of all of them was Red-shirt Freshman, Divaad Wilson. Wilson was getting up and down from his chair and had personable interactions with every fan I saw.

When I got to him, I told him that he's one of the best dancers I've have ever seen. If you haven't seen one of his renowned dances, you need to.

In response, Divaad said, "I know man, I need to go on America's Got Talent."

I think he has a shot if he goes on. He'll have my support.

I spent my last few minutes with the linebacker core. It was definitely worth it to see the new faces like Rian Davis, Trezman Marshall, Nakobe Dean, Jermaine Johnson, and former #1 overall recruit, Nolan Smith.

On top of that, I was able to interact with returning linebackers, Brenton Cox and Adam Anderson

Out of the whole linebacker group, it seemed to me that Cox, Anderson, and Azeez Ojulari had all added the most weight. Ojulari showed a ton of potential in the Sugar Bowl and has even been rumored as a potential starter in 2019.

While I wasn't able to interact with the wide receiver group, I made sure to get a closer look at true freshman, George Pickens. Pickens was one of the last guys to stop signing autographs, which shows something about his character. When he stood up, I noticed he was standing next to Matt Landers. While Pickens is listed at 6'3, he looked just as tall as Landers, who is listed at 6'5.

Overall, the event is a great opportunity for all fans and gives a chance for everyone to meet the guys they'll be cheering on this season. The event also gives a chance to see the players close up, and get an idea of who's gained weight, and who has leaned up over the offseason.

With "Fan Day" now over, fall practice is well underway, and the offseason is almost over. During the next few weeks, we'll keep an eye on practice observations and who will make a push for playing time.
