Former Georgia QB Stetson Bennett Likely Out For Season With Rams

According to Los Angeles Rams head coach, Sean McVay, their fourth-round draft pick is likely out for the season.

Following the news of a Matthew Stafford injury, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay had some news regarding former Georgia Bulldogs QB Stetson Bennett.

Earlier this season, McVay announced that Bennett would be away from the team due to non-football-related issues, but following Stafford going down Sunday in a loss to Dallas and the swirling question of who is the next man up, McVay made it clear that the two-time national champion is likely out for the season.

McVay told reporters that “I'm not ready to say that he won't be back with us at all this year, but it's probably less likely than it is likely he would be,” but that Bennett is “doing well.” The Rams had Brett Rypien on their roster, whom Bennett originally beat out to be named the team's backup before he had to step away. The Rams recently signed Dresser Winn, a UT-Marting grad, to their practice squad in hopes of finding some consistency behind Matthew Stafford and for Rypien to have someone to compete with.

L.A. had high hopes for Bennett following his impressive preseason performances, and signs pointed to him taking over the job once Stafford decides to retire or the Rams and him decide to part ways.  Either way, they are looking for any spark to their 3-5 season after they lost to the Cowboys on Sunday: Bennett's former team and the No. 2 team in the country, the Georgia Bulldogs, take on the No. 12 team, Missouri Tigers, in a Battle for the SEC East.
