Fran Brown's Name Appearing In Syracuse Head Coach Search

There is news regarding the UGA defensive backs coach in the coaching carousel that immediately followed the 2023 regular season.

This past weekend saw the end of the 2023 regular season for college football, with plenty of teams searching for their new head coach. Some of these teams included Texas A&M, who hired former Duke HC Mike Elko as their next head coach. Another team in the search is the ACC's Syracuse Orange, who fired Dino Babers following a 6-6 season and a 41-55 overall record in eight years.

One of the names appearing in this search comes from the Georgia Bulldogs coaching staff, defensive backs coach Fran Brown, according to Bruce Feldman.

Brown is a tenured coach, with stints at Temple, where he was a DB coach, then at Baylor and Rutgers for the same position, then back to Temple for a co-defensive coordinator position, and then his current position at Georgia. . Brown is a New Jersey native and is the nation's top recruiter, according to 247Sports. Whether he decides to leave for the Orange or stay with the Dawgs, a decision likely won't be announced until after the SEC Championship this weekend.

Brown has done a tremendous job with the Bulldogs secondary this season, with the 12-rated defense when considering passing yards allowed, and ten turnovers created by his secondary.

Nonetheless, Brown will continue to prep his Dawgs for their battle with Bama this coming Saturday to clinch the SEC title for the first time against the Crimson Tide.
