Players to Watch vs. Auburn

Keep an eye on two Bulldogs Wednesday night when they play Auburn.

Georgia basketball hosts Auburn Wednesday night still searching for its first SEC win of the 2020-21 season.

The Tigers are also trying to snap a losing skid in SEC play. The similarities between these two teams don't end there. Both Georgia and Auburn had successful non-conference slates before their rough starts in SEC play.

Auburn recently added guard Sharife Cooper to its lineup after the NCAA ruled him eligible to play. Cooper scored 26 points and added nine assists in a 94-90 loss to Alabama. K.D. Johnson joins Georgia's lineup Wednesday after also being ruled eligible by the NCAA.

After Wednesday, one of these two teams will enter the win column in SEC play. These two players will help make sure that team is the Georgia Bulldogs.

Toumani Camara, forward

Camara was a big reason why the Bulldogs upset Auburn last season, and he'll be the main reason why the Bulldogs win Wednesday night. Camara excels where Auburn fails, at least in SEC play.

Through four games, the Tigers are losing the battle on the boards 147-140, and they've already allowed 46 steals. Camara is Georgia's best rebounder, averaging 7.9 boards per game this season, though that number drops slightly to seven rebounds per SEC contest. Camara also has 15 steals, including a team-high five steals in SEC play.

K.D. Johnson, guard

Georgia finally has its top-ranked prospect available to play after he was deemed academically ineligible for the fall 2020 semester. Johnson provides the backup point guard that's been missing from Georgia's lineup.

Georgia's offense has struggled whenever resting Sahvir Wheeler since SEC play began. Without a point guard to lead the offense, Georgia fails to find ways to get the ball closer to the basket. Johnson is very similar to Wheeler. He's a bit taller and is just as aggressive when it comes to driving the lane.
