Georgia Defensive Lineman Announces Portal Destination

Former Georgia defensive lineman Jonathan Jefferson has announced his transfer portal destination. The former Bulldog is headed to SMU.

Since the SEC Championship game, Georgia's football program has had a multitude of players enter their names in the NCAA transfer portal. One of the players to do so was defensive lineman Jonathan Jefferson, and he has announced where he will be continuing his college career. The former Bulldog has committed to SMU's football program. 

The 2021 signee hails from Douglasville, Georgia where he played for Coach Johnny White at Douglas County High School. He was buried behind several NFL talents at the defensive tackle position over the last several years at Georgia. With names like Jalen Carter, Devonte Wyatt, and Warren Brinson occupying the majority of the playing time at this spot. 

Jefferson has two years of eligibility remaining after his time spent in Athens with the Georgia Bulldogs. 

Georgia Transfer Portal Entries:

  • Kicker, Jared Zirkel announced on Tuesday that he will enter the transfer portal
  • WR, Jackson Meeks enters the transfer portal.
  • QB, Brock Vandagriff will transfer to Kentucky.
  • EDGE, CJ Madden announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
  • WR Jackson Meeks has announced that he will enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility left
  • Jonathan Jefferson has announced he will transfer to SMU. 
  • EDGE, Darris Smith - Made transfer intentions known before the portal officially opened.
  • DB, Nyland Green announced that he will enter the transfer portal
  • WR, Mekhi Mews announced that he plans to enter the transfer portal
  • LB, EJ Lightsey, announced that he plans to enter the transfer portal.
  • OL, Austin Blaske entered he transfer portal.
