In their second conference matchup for the 2023 season, the Georgia Bulldogs had to show their willpower against the Auburn Tigers, who never seemed to go away until the final whistle. Two Georgia football players earned SEC Player of the Week honors through their efforts this past Saturday, joining Sedrick Van Pran with an honor for this season

There were plenty of "Co" Player of the Week named by the SEC for week five, but the one player who stood alone in his category was the SEC Defensive Player of the Week, Smael Mondon. The junior inside backer had a standout performance this past weekend, leading the team in tackles with 11 of them while also picking up a sack and two tackles for loss.

Peyton Woodring, Goergia's freshman placekicker, also earns his first weekly honors of his career, winning SEC Co-Freshman Player of the Week. Woodring won this award alongside Alabama safety Caleb Downs, who both deserve the honor for this week. Woodring had a perfect day kicking, going 2-2 on field goals and 3-3 on PATs to tally a total of nine points and a career-long field goal of 38 yards to give Georgia their first lead of the game when he made it 20-17  in the fourth quarter.

This week, Georgia will look to add more names to the weekly honors list from the SEC as they prepare to play the Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Ray Davis, and the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats at Sanford Stadium this Saturday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
