Carson Beck Praised by SEC Defensive Coordinator

The Georgia football program is in the midst of fall camp as they prepare for the 2023 season as the reigning back-to-back national champs. Part of the process of fall camp is to help answer some of the remaining questions that teams might have before the season officially kicks off. One of them for Georgia is who the starting quarterback will be this fall.

An official starter has not been announced and likely won't be until Georgia trots out their offense for their first offensive drive of the 2023 campaign against UT-Martin in week one. However, it is believed that Carson Beck is the current leader on the depth chart and will ultimately be tabbed as the team's leader on offense.

Beck does not have much in-game experience and does not have a start to his name, but he has been with the program for the last three years and is heading into his fourth. In 2022, he appeared in seven games while throwing for 310 yards and four touchdowns. Even with his limited experience, though, an anonymous SEC defensive coordinator still had some good things to say about Beck in an article from ESPN.

"He's ultra-talented," the SEC coach said. "The one thing he won't have that Stetson Bennett did have is a lot of experience. But from a pure NFL talent standpoint, they say he's got all of the tools."

Not only does Beck have all of the tools to be successful at the college level, but he has all of the talent around him on offense to help him along the way. The Bulldogs are expected to have one of the offensive lines in the country along with one of the most talented players in all of college in the form of Brock Bowers and perhaps the deepest wide receiver room that Georgia has had in quite some time.

The expectations for what Georgia should accomplish this season are high, as they typically are for any reigning national champ, and the Bulldogs even came in as the number one ranked team in the AP preseason poll. If Beck does come out of fall camp as the starter, he will have a major task in front of him, but as shown above, he has the skillset necessary to help Georgia continue their dominance on the college football landscape.
