Georgia Ranks No. 6 in Final CFP Rankings

The Georgia Bulldogs officially come in at No.6 in the final list of the college football playoff rankings.

After the conclusion of conference championship weekend, the college football playoff committee was set up for absolute chaos. Alabama knocked off the top team in Georgia, and everyone else took care of business. It was just a matter of what the committee was going to value the most during their final decision. Was it going to be the best four teams or the most deserving?

Well, the committee went the route of ranking the four best teams as Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama ended up being the final four in that order. Florida State, after winning their conference and going undefeated, came in at number five and Georgia dropped all the way to number six after losing in the SEC Championship game. It is the first time that an undefeated Power Five conference champion did not make the playoff and the first time the number one team going into the final weekend of the rankings.

It is now a matter of where Georgia will end up next since they won't be participating in the college football playoff for the first time in two years. Everything seems to point to them playing in the Orange Bowl against an ACC opponent, which based on the rankings, will more than likely be Florida State.

This of course will be the final four-team playoff before they expand to 12 teams next season, which will bring a lot of change to the game of college football.
