Georgia vs Missouri - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Georgia knocked off the Missouri Tigers at home on Saturday to maintain their perfect record, so let's take a look at the good, the bad and the ugly from the game.

It wasn't the prettiest of wins for the Georgia Bulldogs, but it got the job done, and they got to continue their undefeated record in 2023. The Bulldogs won by a final score of 30-21 as cornerback Javon Bullard sealed the game late in the fourth quarter with an interception.

Quarterback Carson Beck threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns against the Tigers on Saturday. He may not have performed up to his usual standard of 300+ passing yards, but he delivered in the big moments and helped keep putting points on the board for the Bulldogs.

The Good: A Big Ranked Win

As the season is starting to wind down, the rankings mean more and more each time out. The Bulldogs did not have a single ranked win on the season, but they picked up their first one against Missouri with two more left on the schedule as Ole Miss and Tennessee are next up. Sure, Georgia did not cover the point spread, but they earned a nine point victory against one of the better SEC teams this season to inch that much closer to clinching the division.

The Bad: Rushing Yards Allowed

Coming into this game, the biggest concern was Missouri's ability to hit the deep ball and create explosives, but that was not what Georgia's defense struggled with. They allowed 151 rushing yards and Cody Schrader piled on 22 carries, 112 yards and a touchdown.

Rush defense is usually something that Georgia excels at but that wasn't the case against Missouri. Might be something to keep an eye on with Ole Miss coming to town, who is a run first offense, and has a quarterback who can escape out of the pocket and create plays of his own much like Brady Cook did against the Bulldogs.

The Ugly: Failing to Capitalize

Georgia had several opportunities during the game on Saturday but failed to capitalize on them. One of them was late in the game when Nazir Stackhouse returned an interception all way inside of the 10-yard line, but it was then called back due to a penalty. The Bulldogs then had to settle for three points. Carson Beck and the offense also had the chance to open up the game with a touchdown as they marched their way down the field efficiently, but settled for a field goal.

As we get later in the season, Georgia will have to improve upon their red zone conversion rate and make sure that they are cashing in on touchdowns when they have the opportunity.
