Former Georgia Corner Makes Transfer Decision

Cornerback Marcus Washington Jr., who spent spent his true freshman campaign with Georgia, announced Monday that he has committed to the Louisville Cardinals.

Cornerback Marcus Washington Jr., who spent spent his true freshman campaign with Georgia, announced Monday that he has committed to the Cardinals. He has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound corner saw action in just one game for the Bulldogs last year, logging two snaps played and an assisted tackle in their 33-0 win over Samford on Sept. 10.

The Grovetown (Ga.) HS product was an elite prospect coming out of high school. He ranked as high as the No. 7 player in the talent-rich state of Georgia, the No. 10 cornerback and No. 84 prospect in the Class of 2022 according to ESPN.

Washington was originally a member of the 2023 cycle before reclassifying. As a junior, he collected 48 tackles, three pass breakups and two fumble fumble recoveries. A multi-sport athlete who also participated in track and field, he ran a 10.76 in the 100-meter dash, logged a 44-foot-3 inch triple jump and a 2-foot long jump. His father, Marcus Washington Sr., played linebacker for UGA during the late-2000's.
