What Did Georgia Land in Nnamdi Ogboko?

Georgia landed the commitment of three-star Nnamdi Ogboko on Sunday. Here's what he brings to the table for the Bulldogs.

With just under six months to spare until early national signing day, The University of Georgia has 21 verbal commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. With class size projections nearing 30 spots in today's age of college football, spots are thin as is.

So, when Georgia "greenlights" a prospect like Nnamdi Ogboko who's just a "three-star" recruit, there can tend to be some questions as to where this future Dawg came from.

Size. It's a prerequisite for the nose tackle position for the University of Georgia. At 6'4, and 345 pounds as a rising senior in high school, Nnamdi Ogboko more than checks that box. Additionally, this isn't an athlete that's been playing football his entire life, he began playing organized football in high school, and he's still growing in the game as much as he is physically.

Ogboko's thick base is evident on the tape. He's naturally bo-legged at 6'4, providing him the required bend and angles to have a much-needed strong anchor in the run game. There's also a shocking amount of lateral ability present on tape for an individual of this size. Ogboko has 33" arms and an 82.5" wingspan and has already worked a tremendous amount on retooling his upper body.

Sources indicated that Ogboko's tape got him on the board for this class, but it was the performances put on display behind closed doors this summer on Georgia's campus that made him a seemingly must-have for a class that needs a nose tackle projection. At the nose tackle position for Georgia, if you're big enough and move well enough, you're good enough. Jordan Davis comes to mind obviously, and they will continue to take stabs at 1% big humans who move this well.

When he committed to Georgia on Sunday, Ogboko wasn't ranked inside the top 1000 on the 247sportscomposite. He's since jumped to No. 935 with surely more bumps coming.
