Early Preview: Georgia opens as 5.5 point favorite against Florida Gators
Kirby Smart has spoken thoroughly about his disdain for the idea of having to play his biggest rivalry game at a neutral site where neither team is allowed to host recruits.
So, what has been Georgia's most intense and closest rivalry over the last few decades, doesn't quite provide the recruiting advantage that it should.
As coach Smart said this summer, "It would be like telling Alabama and LSU that they have to play their annual game on a neutral site"
If you take a home game, you take the official visits, the most important aspect of the recruiting process.
That being said, Georgia has opened as a 5.5 point favorite for the matchup against the 6-1 Florida Gators. Florida is coming off a (38-27) victory over South Carolina, a game that USC was winning 20-17 headed into the 4th.
Georgia has seen a tough two weeks prior, and quite frankly, the second bye week of the season could not have come sooner. After losing to South Carolina at home, and suffering through a mudbath victory over Kentucky, Georgia will look to reload this off week.
Florida is one of five opponents that have a bye week prior to facing Georgia this season. A bit of misfortune for the Bulldogs, but not uncommon. Kirby Smart recalled a season at Alabama where they faced a similar slate.
UGA QB, Jake Fromm takes off
It's no hot take to say that these two teams don't exactly like each other. The trash talk has already begun at least from a few Florida players.
When asked how many interceptions he'd have against Georgia, Defensive Back Shawn Davis responded "I'm planning on 2 or 3"
Which, would be rather impressive considering Jake Fromm has thrown just three interceptions all season, all coming against South Carolina last weekend.
