Georgia LB Target Chris Cole Sets Commitment Date

Georgia target and top-100 linebacker Chris Cole will make his college decision on September 10.

Under Head Coach Kirby Smart, Georgia has become one of the elite linebacker producing programs in the country. Since 2016, Smart's first year at the helm of the Georgia program, the Bulldogs have produced six NFL draft picks at inside linebacker, including two first-round selections. With that type of history, Georgia consistently draws interest from the top prep linebackers in the country, including Salem (VA) linebacker Chris Cole who recently listed the Bulldogs in his top-6.

On Monday, Cole, a Salem, Virginia native, also announced a decision date of September 10. The 4-star prospect is ranked as the No.6 linebacker and the No.58 prospect nationally in the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Bulldogs have surged in Cole's recruitment following his official visit to Athens the weekend of June 16. Joining the Bulldogs in Cole's top-6 are Southern California, Virginia Tech, Miami, Tennessee, and Penn State.

The Salem, VA native possesses rare athleticism for the position that will enable him to play a variety of roles at the college level. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Cole will need to add weight in order to consistently hold up at inside linebacker at the next level, but he possesses the frame to do so. At Salem (VA), Cole is utilized heavily as a pass rusher off of the edge, but he projects long-term as an inside linebacker who can be used in a variety of ways rushing the passer in third down packages.

With 5-star Justin Williams and 4-star Kristopher Jones, the No.1 and No.10 linebackers in the country respectively, already committed to be a part of Georgia's 2024 class, if the Bulldogs were able to add Cole to the mix, a strong argument could be made that Georgia would once again have the best linebacker class in the country.
