Georgia Tops in Preseason All-American Selections

In this story:
As the countdown to the 2023 season enters its final week, the Preseason AP All-American teams were released on Monday and the two-time defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs will enter their quest for a third-consecutive College Football Playoff National Championship with more preseason first team All-Americans than any team in the country.
In April, Georgia lost 10 players to the NFL, but in a testament to the elite roster depth that Kirby Smart has built in Athens, the Bulldogs still managed to enter the season with four first-team selections, including tight end Brock Bowers, center Sedrick Van Pran, linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson, and safety Malaki Starks. Ohio State, the team that pushed Georgia to the brink last season, once again came up just short of the Bulldogs with three first-round selections of its own. The Buckeyes were followed by a host of teams with two first-team selections, including Michigan, LSU, Washington, Iowa, and Penn State.
Safety Javon Bullard's selection to the second team pushed Georgia's total preseason AP All-American selections to five, tying Ohio State for the most among all teams in the nation.
