Reports: Georgia vs. Florida Could Stay At A Neutral Site

The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is still looking for its new home following the 2024 season, and reports indicate it could stay at a neutral site.

Following Georgia's dominant win over Florida Saturday afternoon, the Bulldogs and Gators have one final season, with their annual rivalry being played in Jacksonville, FL. With the Jacksonville Jaguars bringing out new stadium renovations in 2025 and 2026, recent reports are indicating that the Georgia vs. Florida rivalry could stay at a neutral site during those seasons.

The Associated Press released an article in which author Mark Long wrote that the two schools have not ruled out the option of a home-and-home series between the Gators and Bulldogs, something many fans want and would vouch for. But, according to Long, "administrators are focused on letting cities with NFL-ready stadiums bid on the game, according to two people familiar with the planning. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the process hasn’t been formalized or finalized."

What cities could see the two teams face off? Atlanta or Orlando, FL. would be an obvious answer, with the Falcons playing in Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Orlando hosting the Pro Bowl at Camping World Stadium. Two other possibilities could be Charlotte, N.C., or Tama Bay, with the Panthers and Buccaneers having stadiums in those cities.

No matter the decision made, it will be a historic one, with it being the first time the rivalry has been played outside of Jacksonville in 30 years. The decision made will be based upon the Jacksonville City Council approving the Jags' stadium renovation plans and would then force Georgia vs. Florida elsewhere, and the Jags would have to play with a limited capacity in 2024, then play home games elsewhere in 2027, which would bring Orlando into discussion again.
