Hugh Freeze States "I'll Miss Playing Georgia Every Year" In Recent Press Conference

As many coaches held press conferences this afternoon, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze had an eyebrow-raising comment.

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart held press conferences today at their respected universities, which involved interesting events. Smart had former UGA head coach Mark Richt join him, while Hugh Freeze let a mysterious comment slip about the Georgia versus Auburn rivalry.

"I'll miss playing Georgia every year," the head man for the Tigers stated. But this is about the conference realignment happening all over college football, such as the SEC.

With Texas and Oklahoma joining the conference next season in 2024, the SEC has rolled out a new scheduling system for the 2024 season and the foreseeable future. A part of this new scheduling process will impact some of the current rivalries that annually take place in the SEC, such as Georgia vs. Auburn.

Here is Freeze's full statement -

"Well, I mean, the game has changed, and I don't know that we coaches have the power to do anything to really slow the changes down, and obviously the conference realignment has happened within our conference. I'm pretty confident that the SEC is pretty solid on where we are, and I think they'll enjoy the new rivalries when they get to see Texas and Oklahoma among the great rivalries we already have in the conference. There'll be some, um... I'll miss playing Georgia every year because I just got to experience it for my first time, and y'know, I loved every minute of it other than the outcome. I love competing against those types of teams - "

With the revolving door of conference opponents that will be taking place in 2024 and on, many of the SEC's best rivalries will be lost such as the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry. With such a deeply enriched history between the two foes, it will be missed by many just like Hugh Freeze.
