Red-shirt Freshman, Kearis Jackson, is looking to play an important role for the Bulldogs n 2019. He'll have to wait 3-4 more weeks to do so with the news of his hand injury.

Jackson suffered the injury on his 31-yard reception that was fumbled and recovered by Vanderbilt.

With it being early into the season, and the Notre Dame matchup looming on the schedule, it sucks to lose a key depth piece like Jackson. However, the Dawgs will eventually regain his services, and keep him in the back pocket for the rest of SEC play.

In the meantime, Georgia will need starters like Tyler Simmons and Demetris Robertson to play an even bigger role. This could mean Simmons becoming the full-time punt returner, which would not be a downgrade at all given the way he played Saturday. It could also mean Robertson needing to field a few punts every now and then to give Simmons a blow.

As for depth, Georgia will now need to look at junior, Trey Blount, and highly touted freshman, Dominick Blaylock for the slot receiver position.

Trey Blount hasn't seen too much action in his time as a Bulldog, yet he could be looking at a much larger role the season.

As for Blaylock, the fifth rated wide receiver in the 2019 recruiting class, he has a lot of expectations to meet during his career. He'll have his number called sooner or later, and with Jackson being out for a couple of games, it's looking like sooner.

The Georgia Bulldogs will play the home opener this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. EST against the Murray State Racers.
