Kirby Smart Looking to Reach Milestone Against SEC Coaches on Saturday

This Saturday, Kirby Smart has an opportunity to reach a major milestone against SEC coaches

Kirby Smart's relatively quick success (despite the belief of Hugh Freeze) has led to the Georgia Football coach becoming one of the most dominating figures in not just the SEC, but all of college football. Along with two national titles, two SEC titles, and an abundance of first-round draft picks. Smart has also defeated every active SEC coach he has faced at least once.

Except for one...

Hugh Freeze, the newly hired Auburn coach remains the only active SEC coach to have an undefeated record against Kirby Smart. The two coaches first faced each other all the way back in 2016 when Freeze was the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels trounced the Bulldogs by a score of 45-17, handing Smart his first loss of his now legendary Georgia career.

Unfortunately, this would be the only matchup between these two coaches thus far. Following the 2016 season, Freeze resigned as the Rebels head coach after a "pattern of personal misconduct" was discovered, and would not return to coaching in the SEC until the 2023 season when he was hired as the Auburn Tigers' head coach.

Now with Freeze coaching one of Georgia's oldest rivals, Smart will finally have a chance to not only avenge his first career loss, but to also have defeated every active SEC coach that he has faced at least once.
