Despite recent times, this series between the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers is historically close. In fact, the series is tide 23-23-2.

The Dawgs look to take the lead in the series and extend their winning streak over Tennessee to 3. Though, since 2000 (Jim Donnan's last season as coach) Georgia has won 13 of the 19 matchups.

Pregame:

Tyrique McGhee is a captain for the Georgia Bulldogs today, and with Tyson Campbell's recent battle with turf toe and despite participating in practice, it's safe to assume McGee gets the start.

And he played well in his last start in Neyland Stadium, Dawg fans remember this one to start the 2017 matchup.

First Quarter:

Tennessee elected to receive the opening kick... An interesting decision from Jeremy Pruitt. We get our first look at Brian Maurer.

Dawgs force a punt on the opening possession, but big Jordan Davis goes down on the opening play. Further details coming.

Junior Justin Shaefer, in replace of Solomon Kindley, gets the start at Left Guard, Cade Mays playing Right.

(7-0) 7:07 - Dawgs score on their opening drive of the game was a balanced one 4 for 4 from Jake Fromm for 59 yards,   a few early touches by Zamir White. And was capped off by a D'Andre Swift TD

(7-7) 6:25 - Tennesse Strikes back with a 73-yard strike to Marquez Callaway on a double move that beats Richard LeCounte deep.

The crowd is certainly motivated after that big strike. There are a lot of UGA fans here yes, but it's still a 100k plus seat stadium.

(10-7) 2:30 - A Lawrence Cager offensive pass interference stalls a prosperous drive. Rodrigo Blankenship hits a 50-yard field goal.

Tennessee closes the first quarter out with a solid drive, the young QB Maurer looks to be settling in a bit.

Second Quarter:

(10-14) 14:57 - Brian Maurer throws a dart to Jaun Jennings for the score. We have ourselves a ball game ladies and gentlemen, as Tennessee has their first lead of the contest.

Lawrence Cager almost comes down with a miraculous catch, but upon further review, it is called incomplete, and Brian Herrien explodes for a 41-yard gain to put UGA in the redzone.

The game clock has officially gone out inside of Neyland Stadium.

(13-14) 11:31 - Georgia tacks on another Rodrigo Blankenship field goal.

Malik Herring makes a huge stop on a 3rd & 2, stopping Tennessee in their tracks midway through the second quarter.

Both teams trading punts on consecutive possessions. The score holds as Georgia gets the ball with 4:43 before the half.

(20-14) 1:59  - We have our fourth lead change of the contest, as Jake Fromm connects with Lawrence Cager for the 4-yard touchdown.

Here's the Cager score

Tennessee's kicker Brent Cimalgia misses his first FG of the season

(26-14) 0:09 - Jake Fromm throws a touchdown to Freshman Wideout George Pickens and the Dawgs go for two to make it a 14-point contest but fail. Georgia gets the ball after half.

Halftime

Total Yards: UGA (354) / Tennessee (239)

Rushing Yards: UGA (159) / Tennessee (34)

Passing Yards: UGA (195) / Tennessee (205)

Third Quarter:

Georgia set to receive the second half kick after Tennessee elected to receive the opening kick.

Both teams exchanging punts to open up the second half. Flags have been thrown pretty frequently, been a rather sloppy few minutes here.

(29-14) 7:03 - A flag filled drive comes to an end as Rodrigo Blankenship tacks on another field goal

Richard LeCounte was saved from a targeting call upon further review then picks Brian Maurer off the next play

Tennessee stops Georgia on a 4th & 1, the Dawgs turned the ball over on downs (1:27) remaining in the third quarter.

End of the Third, Dawgs on top 29-14

Fourth Quarter

(36-14) 8:02 - Brian Herrien caps off a 10 play 75-yard drive and puts the nail in the coffin inside Neyland Stadium.

(43-14) 4:39 - Tae Crowder picks up the fumble caused by the big shot from Eric Stokes on QB Brian Maurer, and takes it 60 yards for the score.

43-14 is the final from Knoxville

Injury Report:

Lawrence Cager (WR) - Injured at the start of the 4th quarter with left shoulder. It was a previous injury, and he's still on the sidelines

Jordan Davis (NT) - Down on the first play of the game, with an apparent lower leg injury. Out for the game with Left Ankle injury. Was carted off.

Solomon Kindley (OG) - Kindley has been bothered with a lower leg injury and though the made the trip, as we reported earlier in the week, he will likely take the weekend to get even healthier for South Carolina.

Tyson Campbell (CB) - Is inactive for tonight's game. He did not make the trip to Knoxville. Campbell has been struggling with a tough case of turf toe since the Arkansas State game.
