NCAA Passes Massive Rule Change Regarding College Football

College Football games will look a little different this upcoming season as the NCAA has passed a rule change that will affect the game clock during football games.

The game clock will now run in a similar fashion to NFL games where the clock no longer stops after a first down. The clock will however stop after the first downs when inside the two-minute mark of each half.

The goal of this change is to make the product of college football more universally marketable and to shorten the length of games, which is believed to increase player safety.

The NCAA is not the only league that has made a change in in-game clocks to shorten a game. This season, the MLB instituted a "pitch clock" that gives a pitcher a certain amount of time before they have to throw out the next pitch.

This will be the first time since 1968 that the clock will not stop for a first down. A rule that has identified one of the major differences between collegiate and professional football.
