Nolan Smith Discusses Bulldogs' Future at Linebacker Position

Nolan Smith was asked about the future of the linebacker position at the University of Georgia. Here is what he had to say

Nolan Smith knows a thing or two about playing linebacker/edge in Kirby Smart's defense. Having excelled at the position for the previous four years, the Savannah, Georgia native's opinion on the future of the position is certainly more than credible.

Following his pro day workout on Wednesday, Smith was asked about what he thought about the future state of the linebacker position, better known as "The Wolfpack" amongst Georgia players. Smith responded with nothing but praise.

“Man, the Wolfpack will be great, don’t ever ask me questions about the Wolfpack because when one wolf eats, we all eat."

Although Smith appears more than confident in the position's abilities, head coach Kirby Smart voiced his concerns about the youth of the position earlier this week in a presser. While seniors, Nolan Smith and Robert Beal were leaders in the position last year. The group will likely turn to junior Chaz Chambliss, who is one of the few returning starters at the position

"It's probably the youngest position on the roster. I think we have five players in their first spring or their first year. So, the three mid-years, CJ (Madden), and Darris Smith. I'm counting those five guys,”

-Head coach Kirby Smart

While the lack of experience in the position may be alarming to Smart, the abundance of talent and relatively easy schedule to begin the season should be more than enough to have the position ready during the 2023 season.
