Rodrigo Blankenship is furthering his case for greatest UGA kicker ever.

Rodrigo Blankenship and Jake Fromm are the two most beloved Bulldogs on the UGA team. But unlike Fromm, Rodrigo is already the GOAT

On Saturdays between the hedges in Athens, Georgia, every Bulldog receives thunderous applause from the Dawg nation faithful in attendance. But, there's always the one or two that really feel the love from the fans.

At one point in time, it was Herschel Walker and Lindsay Scott. That became Zeier and Hearst, David Greene and Pollack. And now there's Jake Fromm and... Rodrigo Blankenship

For the first time in Georgia history, the fan-favorite is the placekicker, Specs from Sprayberry high school in Marietta, Georgia. A former soccer star turned bomber of the football on Friday nights. His senior season he hit field goals from 51 & 56 yards.

And since taking over the full-time kicking duties in 2016 as a redshirt freshman, he's put together the greatest career any kicker at Georgia has ever had.

  • He is a perfect 179 for 179 on PATs the previous record for such a streak was 119 (Blair Walsh).
  • His career FG percentage, 85.3% is 5 points higher than second place (Brandon Couto)
  • Rodrigo's 85.3% currently ranks 10th on the all-time list
  • His 371 career points place him 4th, with 7 regular-season games, plus postseason remaining, to run down Blair Walsh's SEC record 412.

Sure the Specs are great, and there's not a nicer, more humble, and purely genuine athlete than Rodrigo Blankenship, but I think what makes Dawg fans adore Blankenship so much is the consistency.
