What We Learned From Georgia's Fall Camp

It's week zero in college football, which means the offseason has officially come to a close. It also means that the Georgia Bulldogs' first game of the season is just one week away. With the Bulldogs' spring and fall camps now wrapped up, let's take a look at some things we learned about the team this offseason.

Carson Beck is the new QB1

Stetson Bennett's imminent departure from the Bulldogs following the 2022 season led to one of the most closely followed quarterback battles in the nation. However, Kirby Smart put that battle to rest just a few days ago when he announced that senior Carson Beck would be the Bulldogs' starter for the 2023 season.

The Running Back Room Is Extremely Banged Up

Injuires have been, and always will be an integral part of the game of football. But it seems that the Bulldogs' running back room is suffering these injuries at an alarming rate. The team has already lost Branson Robinson for the season and with veterans Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton currently nursing injuries. The Dawgs will need someone to step up in a major way throughout this season.

Brock Bowers Could Have an Even Larger Role in 2023

It's hard to imagine that the Bulldogs' leading receiver over the past two seasons could have an even bigger role in 2023. Nevertheless, with the injuries to the running back room and a new offensive coordinator that prioritizes getting his star players touches. 2023 could be Bowers' most productive season yet.

The Secondary is Loaded

Although Kirby Smart will be without key contributors such as Kelee Ringo and Christopher Smith this season. Offseason practice reports indicate that the Bulldogs' defensive backfield has talent to spare. Look for players like Javon Bullard, Tykee Smith, and Malaki Starks to all have major seasons in 2023.

"3-Peating" is Not the Main Focus

While winning a third straight national title is ultimately the goal for Kirby Smart and his team, the Bulldogs are not placing emphasis on doing so. Instead, the team indicates that they are hyperfocusing on doing the little things right and building a bond with other teammates that will ultimately help them reach their goals.

The Bulldogs will begin to chase their goal as the Bulldogs host the UT-Martin Skyhawks in Athens. Kickoff for this matchup is currently set for 6 p.m.
