2021 UGA Recruiting: Exclusive Interview with 5-star, Savion Byrd

Turn the tape on, a long and fluid athlete demolishes a defender, flat-backing him into the turf of AT&T stadium, then proceeds to make sure the defender knows what just happened to him before getting up and jogging back to the huddle.
I introduce you to, Savion Byrd. The nation's second-ranked tackle in the 2021 class.
Shockingly enough, the 5-star offensive tackle from Duncanville, Texas is new to this whole "playing offensive line" thing, spending his freshman season playing defensive end for the 6A school just south of Dallas.
It's a commonly known theory in the football world that defensive players often play the game with a bit more aggression than those on the offensive side of the ball, and if you subscribe to that theory and have seen Savion play, you wouldn't be shocked to hear he originally played defense.
And when asked about that aggression Savion responded, "Savagery... it's always gotta be on 10. Every snap, until the whistle blows."
Now 6'6, 270 lbs, he's looking to add some additional weight onto his lengthy frame. Saying, "By my senior year, I should be around 6'7, 290. I think that would be an excellent weight going into college."
The thing that jumps out most about Savion's game has to be his athleticism (4.7 forty). He's an absolute nightmare for second-level defenders on counter plays, and he reaches defensive linemen with ease.

Savion's thoughts on Georgia:
Of course, before the conversation with Savion ended, we had to ask him his thoughts about The Georgia Bulldogs:
"Man... Georgia is home. I'm from Georgia you know that, right? I'm from Clayton county." He continued, "I have always wanted to be a Georgia Bulldog, my uncle was like their biggest fan and my other uncle even has a bulldog tatted on him. So, it's always something I've looked at."
But the UGA staff will be competing with a ton of schools that will be knocking down Byrd's door soon, if not already. Texas being the primary point of concern so far, coach Tom Herman and staff have spoken to Savion the most so far throughout his recruitment.
When asked if Texas does in fact lead the way in his recruitment like both Rivals & 247sports.com claim, Savion said: "The main reason I think all those people say that about the Texas hype is because those are the only people that really hit me up right now."
