2020 UGA Recruiting: Georgia & Kendall Milton Could Steal Elias Ricks

As crazy as it might sound, Georgia has now emerged as a contender. I'll detail you in on what the noise is so far, and what it would mean for Georgia.

Elias Ricks (LSU Commit) 

Elias Ricks is currently committed to LSU, but, with a long way to go until National Signing Day, teams have not backed off of Ricks' recruitment at all. In fact, some folks are even starting to believe that Ricks will not sign with the Tigers.

Georgia is one of those teams looking to make a push.

While not a lot of people truly know, the predicted number of scholarships for the 2020 class is looking to be around 23 to 24. Georgia has already filled up 16 of those.

With the loss of Brenton Cox earlier this week, there is some talk of another spot opening up in the 2020 recruiting class, which makes Georgia's run for the #1 overall class even more realistic. This could potentially move the number to 25 spots, with the potential of 26 if Georgia can gain a commitment back from 2018 signee, Nadab Joseph. (Joseph would count to the 2018 class instead of the 2020 class.)

Elias Ricks, who stands at 6'2 192 lbs., is originally from California but has announced he will play his senior year at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Ricks' being from California has allowed for Georgia commit, Kendall Milton, to make a connection.

Milton has talked effortlessly about building a super team in Georgia since his commitment on July 29th, and he's holding true to his word. 

The potential of a secondary of Elias Ricks, Jalen Kimber, and Kelee Ringo is flat out scary. This trio would provide a great mix as each corner is a little different in each way.

Ricks' size is prototypical for a cornerback. He plays with a lot of emotion, aggression, and physicality that can frustrate receivers. His 4.56 40-time isn't the best, but his size makes up for it. He reminds me of a lot of Deandre Baker.

Kimber is one of the more athletic guys in the country and is excellent in man coverage. He's got plenty of speed and footwork to be a slot corner for Georgia in the future. At 6'0 170 lbs., I look to see him add on 10-15 more pounds at Georgia before he hits the field.

Ringo is the guy who can do it all. At almost 6'3 and 205 lbs., Ringo would be one of the biggest cornerbacks in the entire conference, if not the whole country. That's why it's hard to imagine him running a 4.36 40-time. But, it most certainly already happened. He's got the right balance of agility and physicality that's going to make him a lot of money in the NFL one day.

The dream case scenario for Georgia is to eventually have Ricks and Ringo as the outside cornerbacks with Kimber covering the slot. If that wasn't scary enough, imagine having Lewis Cine at one safety position, and then a guy like Tyrique Stevenson or Otis Reese at the other safety position.

The school in Gainesville might be losing their self-proclaimed "DBU" title very soon. If it hasn't happened already.
