2020 UGA Recruiting: Noah Sewell, One of the Nation's Top Linebackers
Coming out of high school standing at 6'2 and weighing 266 pounds is impressive. It's a different kind of impressive when that size is used to play inside linebacker instead of defensive end. That's exactly what Noah Sewell is.
Sewell, the #1 player in the state of Utah, is rated as the #4 athlete in the nation. That's because he plays inside linebacker and running back for Orem High School.
He'll be an inside linebacker at the next level, and he's everything that Dan Lanning and Glenn Schumann need. At 266 pounds, Sewell has the quickness and power to be a force in the middle. His ability to move laterally and drive opponents into the grown is unreal. Sewell is nothing like any inside linebacker the program has ever seen. It's the staff's job to make sure he understands that.
Noah won't be the only member of his family to play college football. He has three brothers playing college football at the moment. Gabriel Sewell is a linebacker for Nevada, and Nephi Sewell is a safety for Utah. His other brother Penei Sewell is an offensive lineman for Oregon, and most experts predict him to join him in Eugene.
So what's up with Sewell's recruitment? He's got three official visits on the agenda so far.
“I have three already locked in – that’s Oregon, Texas A&M, and Georgia,” Sewell told The Oregonian.
That's great news for the Bulldogs. If Sewell can see how vital and prestigious the inside linebacker position is to Georgia, it could be enough to sell him.
Recently, Sewell announced some big news coming.
It looks like he'll be announcing a "Top 8" list at the end of July. Georgia should be a shoo-in.
There are 10 crystal ball predictions in for Sewell on 247sports. 90% of the predictions are in for the Oregon Ducks, but there is a 10% that is "undecided". That's because 247sports expert, Steve Wiltfong, changed his prediction from Oregon to "undecided". That's a good sign for Georgia fans.
He may not be an instant impact, but he'll be a great player wherever he chooses. While the term "generational" is often overused, Sewell's unheard size and mobility make him generational in my book. How often do you see a 6'2 266 lbs. inside linebacker? The answer is not very often.
Now imagine pairing him with former 5-star, Nakobe Dean. Then add in the 5-star commit, Mekhail Sherman and former #1 recruit in the country, Nolan Smith playing on the outside. This is probably the master plan for Georgia's defense in a few years, and it's truly a scary thought.
