Akinola Ogunbiyi was had been committed to UGA since April of this year, but today he announced he was going to play for Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M.

Ogunbiyi spoke with Dawgnation and his reasoning for the change in mind is one that Georgia fans can absolutely respect. He said, “Just let them know no love was lost for Georgia, I loved it there and I loved the staff I just had to make the best decision for my Mom.”

Aki's mom had a stroke in March of 2018, and the travel distance from Kempner, Texas (about 45 minutes from A&M) is a lot more manageable for him and his family. So, yeah, Georgia lost the 4-star guard today, but I was proud as a member of this football family, to say our fans responded well to the young man's tweet.

Now, I feel it would be a bit different if Ogunbiyi was the highlight of the UGA 2020 recruiting class. Not to say he's not going to be a great player, but he was the 7th ranked commit for Georgia. Also, we are being told that this will ultimately make room for either Sedrick Van Pran or Andrew Raym, or even both.

Yes, Ogunbiyi told our own Brent Wilson, that his recruitment and commitment to Georgia was completely shut down. But, when it comes to family, there are no hard feelings towards the young man. We hope he and his family all the success and health.

It's clear that he truly wanted to come to Georgia saying his G-day visit was the best time of his life, so it's a tough one for all parties involved in my opinion, except A&M of course.

A&M definitley got a good football player in Ogunbiyi, here's a look at him during Under Armour's Houston Regional camp.
