2024 Georgia Tech target Benjamin Blackburn Commits to Boston College

While Georgia Tech has added to its 2024 class this week, they lost out on a target today.

Benjamin Blackburn, who plays at Columbus High School in Miami (FL) announced his commitment to Boston College today. Blackburn was on an official visit to Georgia Tech during the first weekend in June and was just on an official visit to Boston College. Earlier today, Georgia Tech received a commitment from three-star running back Jaedon Matthews (Scottsdale, AZ).

Earlier this week, Georgia Tech received a commitment from a 2024 tight end, David Prince, who plays at Glynn Academy in Brunswick (GA).

Blackburn's other offers included Arizona, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pitt, Rutgers, UCF, West Virginia, Virginia, and Virginia Tech, among others.

Last season, Blackburn caught 11 passes for 189 yards and helped Miami Columbus capture a Florida 4M title (Per 247Sports). The 247Sports Composite ranks Blackburn as the No. 965 player in the country and the No. 41 tight end. At 6'6 230 LBS, he already has the size to be a potential matchup problem in the passing game. With coaching and development, Blackburn could be a solid all-around tight end.

The 2024 class for Georgia Tech currently ranks 30th nationally on 247Sports and 10th in the ACC.
