BREAKING: Georgia Tech Gets Commitment From Tennessee Transfer DB Warren Burrell
Georgia Tech has just landed its first transfer this cycle.
Warren Burrell, a grad transfer from Tennessee and former starter, announced on social media today that he is going to be transferring to Georgia Tech. Burrell played for the Volunteers since 2019 and played his high school football at North Gwinnett High School in Georgia.
From his bio at Tennessee Athletics:
"Experienced cornerback who had a career year in 2021 as one of the Vols’ starters before missing the majority of the 2022 season with an upper body injury … Played in 40 games with 22 starts, all at cornerback, and has two years of eligibility remaining … Accumulated 89 total tackles, has nine PBUs, one interception and a fumble recovery to his credit … Plays with the SEC graduate patch after earning his degree in Dec. 2022."
Warren Burrell is transferring to Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech was going to need more players at cornerback with Kenan Johnson entering the transfer portal and Myles Sims out of eligibility. Ahmari Harvey is going to be back and there are some young players to watch, but more experience is needed and that is what Georgia Tech is going to get from Burrell.
If Burrell can stay healthy, this could be a big steal for Georgia Tech Burrell is a former starter in the SEC and could bring a big boost to the secondary next season.
