Kansas State Transfer Omar Daniels Commits To Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech has found some help for their secondary.
The Yellow Jackets have been looking to add a cornerback this offseason and made a run at Alabama transfer Tre'Quon Fegans, but he committed to USC. Today, Kansas State transfer cornerback Omar Daniels committed to Georgia Tech and gave them some competition and depth in the secondary that they have needed.
Daniels only played two seasons for the Wildcats and gathered two tackles in each season. The 6'0 178 LBS cornerback is originally from Georgia and is coming back to his home state to try and bring something to the back of Georgia Tech's defense.
The Yellow Jackets have a stud cornerback in Myles Sims, but with Zamari Walton deciding to transfer to Ole Miss, there has been an open competition for the spot opposite of Sims. Kenan Johnson, Kenyatta Watson, Ahmari Harvey, and others have been competing through the spring, but the coaching staff felt the need to bring in another player.

Here is what defensive coordinator Andrew Thacker had to say about the cornerback competition this spring:
"Kenan Johnson has been behind and another one that I want to make sure that I bring up is Kenyatta Watson and Rodney Shelley is playing the slot nickel position so it is corner and we have the nickel position, we also see the nickel as a corner/slot guy. For example, Rodney is playing outside of the slot corner right now because there are more jobs to be able to do and you can learn the complexities of the defense and then to kick back out and know the complexity of the defense and do a better job but maybe a tougher technique."
Daniels is going to be able to compete for playing time and could potentially start. He brings depth at a minimum to a position where you can't have enough bodies at.
Daniels joins Princeton offensive line transfer Connor Scaglione and Georgia wide receiver Dominick Blaylock as the spring transfer additions to this team.
